The start of Express Karting 1984
David was asked to build a fleet of karts for a friend whom that was set up a circuit near Peterborough. Never made a go-kart before David set about this task and within weeks they were ready.
1986 Express Karting was born
David found a disused airfield (RAF Winthorpe) near Newark Nottinghamshire and set up his Karting circuit.
1992-2004 Elk Racing
After getting involved in racing karts, David started to manufacture Racing Go Kart for endurance racing and sprint racing this turned out to be a great addition to the already growing business. It was not long until the ELK Kart was a front contender, winning British championships and European races.
2004 Elk Motorsport
David’s older son Giles takes over the business day to day running investing in the business with a new motorsport department, focusing on S1 and European racing using the Parolin Kart.
2007 Elk Motorsport
David’s young son Tav joins the business and heads up the rental and corporate side to the circuit in Newark.
2010 Elk Motorsport
Plans are put into local planning to extend the circuit and build a new clubhouse and workshop building, little did Tav know what was about to consume the next four years.
2014 Elk Motorsport
After a four-year battle to secure the planning, after a planning appeal and many meetings it was full steam ahead.
2015 Elk Motorsport
The new 1200m circuit was starting to shape, and the new buildings were nearly finished.
2016 Elk Motorsport
The door opened on the 4th of July to the new circuit, and the new Biz Twin engine karts were ready to get there first laps on the new track.
2017 Elk Motorsport
With more investment for the customer with the latest timing system from Apex timing offering the customer the ability to track every session down to the last tenth.
2018 Elk Motorsport
After months of design or new App was launched, every driver can see there sessions and performance compare to other drivers.
2019 Elk Motorsport
Winter Refresh for our fleet of Biz twin engines karts starts with a replacement chassis and improvements to keep our karts in top condition for our customers.
2020 Elk Motorsport
Covid hits the world, for a change we spent our summer improving and renovating our venue including our new spectator shelters.
2021 Elk Motorsport
With the restart to the world, the engines were started after a long break it was time to burn some rubber.
2022 Elk Motorsport
With Covid behind us and a distant memory time to get back at it, signing up rugby kart club to hold there championship races.
2023 Elk Motorsport
Changes to our business model see a stop to children’s karting after 35 years. We now are focused on adult-only karting with our twin-engined karts.
